Examine the section at high power and try to identify the individual
nerve fibres. The darkly stained rings arre myelin sheath which is of
lipid nature.
The lipid is impregnated black with osmic acid. The same is shown in the
lipid droplets in the fat cells found near to the surface of the nerve.
